What Does the Bible Have to Do with Education?

Has America Forgotten Her Roots?

What does the Bible Have to Do with Education? Let’s ask President George Washington who sternly warned,

“If we separate religion from education, we will lose morality.”

And we did.

The slow but strategic removal of God from public schools has ushered in a national identity crisis. Morality is now subjective. Truth is negotiable. And education, in many places, has become directionless knowledge without divine wisdom.

At HeroesMart Homeschool Academy, we believe that education without the Bible is incomplete—not just spiritually, but intellectually, socially, and morally.

The Bible: America’s First Textbook

Would you believe that the original purpose of public schools in colonial America was to teach children to read the Bible?

Founding father Benjamin Rush wrote:

“If we remove the Bible from schools, we will be wasting so much money and time punishing crimes—and so little effort preventing them.”

Noah Webster added:

“Education is useless without the Bible. God’s Word has furnished all necessary rules to direct our conduct.”

In early America:

  • Schools taught biblical principles as core curriculum

  • Teachers used Scripture to teach reading, morality, and governance

  • Students were taught to think and live righteously

The results? Societal peace. National strength. Unmatched prosperity.

What Happened When We Took God Out?

As Bible-based education was phased out:

  • Crime increased

  • Moral relativism spread

  • Families fractured

  • Youth identity crumbled

When God’s Word is ignored, chaos grows. When His standards are rejected, nations self-destruct.

At HeroesMart, we don’t just acknowledge this history—we actively reverse it with Bible-based curriculum that educates the whole child: body, soul, and spirit.

Education That Leads to God

True education should do more than transfer facts—it should lead a child toward their Creator.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” — Proverbs 9:10

Yet in today’s secular classrooms, children are taught:

  • Man is his own savior

  • Truth is subjective

  • Morality is outdated

  • The Bible is mythology

  • God is either nonexistent or irrelevant

That’s why our FREE Character Development Workbook teaches students to:

  • Know Scripture

  • Love truth

  • Walk in godliness

  • Build discernment in today’s cultural confusion

What Makes Biblical Instruction Powerful?

The Bible isn’t just a rule book. It’s a relationship builder.

2 Corinthians 3:6 reminds us,

“The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

When we read the Bible apart from the Holy Spirit, it can feel heavy. But when children are trained to see the spirit behind the letter—God’s love, justice, and wisdom—they begin to walk in joyful obedience.

At HeroesMart, we don’t just teach kids to memorize verses. We guide them into a relationship with the God who inspired the Word.

Why America Thrived Under Bible-Based Education

For over 300 years, America functioned under a biblical framework in education. As Noah Webster once said:

“Education will always propagate the religion of the nation. In America, that religion was Christianity.”

That biblical foundation produced:

  • Strong families

  • Civil order

  • Economic growth

  • National unity

As soon as the Bible was removed, chaos entered the classroom—and the courtroom.

At HeroesMart, we bring the Bible back to the center, not just in name, but in purpose.

Final Thoughts: Make the Bible Central Again

The Bible is not a religious add-on—it’s the core of a child’s education.

“In all your getting, get understanding.” — Proverbs 4:7

That understanding must begin with the Word of God. Without it, children grow up with knowledge but no wisdom, access but no purpose, freedom but no peace.

Let’s return to the foundations.
Let’s give our children the only education that will last for eternity.
